The rain didn’t stop us!
Over 600 people came to Spruce Lake’s Open House Festival Sunday, June 5. It was a quiet, drippy day with a little fog, a beautiful day, really, but devoid of sunshine and with a thunderstorm moving in at 5 p.m., which poured down 9/10 inch of rain while we had dessert in the Program Center!
But the rain didn’t stop us! Our guests came anyway and enjoyed a delightful afternoon of fellowship and fun, with free pretzel nuggets and Popsicles at the snack shop, chicken BBQ in the dining room, and a variety of musical ensembles in Spruce and Founders lodges. They explored Day and Wilderness Camp areas, took rides on the zip line and read the new History Wall in Founders lobby. Guests gave toward the Center Circle campaign, helping to bring us just 30% shy of our $100,000 challenge match goal for today.
Next year’s Open House is set for Sunday, June 4, 2017.
