Day Camp grows by 90%

Spruce Lake’s Day Camp for ages 5-12  closed its fourth season at the end of August with a 90 percent increase in registrations. Among them were 64 campers new to the program and 34 returning children. Parents appreciated the three shuttle routes and the before/after care options.

The children start each fun-filled day by “praising the Lord and hearing the Word,” said youth ministries director Stacie Farris. “The kids sang the songs they learned throughout the day, all around camp and on the bus rides home!” Amy Carr, Day Camp Manager, and Day Camp Director Brian Espenshade agreed that their favorite part of each day was the morning time with the children in corporate worship and Bible lessons. Staff were left with many precious and valuable memories of their time with the children.

Day Camp promises to be an exciting avenue for continued growth and ministry opportunity for Spruce Lake. To keep children and parents invested in the program throughout the winter months, four Day Camp Fun Days are planned for the days when schools are closed, such as teacher In-Service or holidays.
